[Can we curse a bad situation and will it work?] You have drawn a nice parallel between today's verse and how the brahmanas, when they saw the exceptional case of Vena, cursed him. In the same way, suppose we are very fortunate that we are following Prabhupada's teachings as they are. When we see so much discrepancy happening, and we feel that this is an exceptional situation, the brahmanas cursed Vena. If somebody like us were to curse such a situation, would that work in some good way?

Answer
No. You see, the brahmanas in that case chose to curse him because they wanted his rule to end. They cursed him to die.

Cursing is for a purpose. It should serve a purpose.

Similarly, our equivalent of cursing is to continuously preach that Prabhupada's order is being disobeyed and to show it by following that order strictly ourselves.

So, our equivalent of a curse is to preach vigorously and say, "This has happened. Protect yourself."

We don't curse. We are hurt. You are a disciple of Prabhupada; I am a disciple of Prabhupada. If you see something I am doing which hurts Prabhupada, it hurts you. Correct? So this hurts Prabhupada's mission.

What a pristine movement it is. Ordinary people can fall; that is all right. It is a learning process. But there cannot be cheating.

The system itself cannot promote cheating. Therefore, we have to fight against the system.

And we are now almost 50 years after 1977—close to 50 years. Enough calamity has occurred to show that. That is also the reason why we have to cite these examples.

Open your eyes. This is not something that you can simply ignore.

And today, what is there in the GBC's resolution? If your guru falls down, take shelter of Prabhupada.

Before, one could not have taken shelter of Prabhupada directly. In between, there was another solution. The GBC had said that if your guru falls down, you should take reinitiation from another guru.

Then they found that the other guru also fell down.

There are people who have taken initiation from three gurus, and all three have fallen down.

Therefore, the GBC discussed this and said that reinitiation is not correct. If the guru falls down, they should take shelter of Prabhupada. This is the latest position.

So, we are waiting for the next reform.

And that reform will be: take direct shelter of Prabhupada from the first time itself.
