That is also a duty. You do your duty and don't be lazy about the result. Don't worry about the result; that is Krishna's work. My work is not the result; my work is the work itself.
But if you don't work, you are not doing your duty. Each of us finds ourselves in a situation where we have a duty, and that duty we are expected to execute. There should not be unnecessary anxiety about the result or outcome.
The outcome should be in our mind; otherwise, we will not know how to work. We should know what outcome we are working towards. Yes, I want a particular outcome, but one should not become attached to it. Whether it will come or not is the will of the Lord.
I want it to come, and I work towards it. I constantly recognize that the giver of the result is the Supreme Lord. Then automatically the anxiety goes away. The idea that "I am the producer of the result" goes away. I am a worker; I am not the producer of the result. I am a servant of the master. The result is what the master has planned.
The master says, "You do this, you do this, you do this." The master has planned how the result will come, when it will come, and why it should come. All that He has decided.
So, one cannot simply do something and say, "I won't take any responsibility." You should take responsibility for your work. If you take high responsibility for your work, you need not take responsibility for the result. You understand? If you take high responsibility for the work, naturally that is the best result that can come out of it.
Why should you worry? As far as the work is concerned, you have to give your best. As far as the result is concerned, all results do not happen at the end of the work.
For instance, you may study for your examination very nicely, meticulously and very hard. You may do everything properly, but you may leave a few things to study. Then, only those questions may come in the exam. You studied 90% and left 10%, and all the questions may be from that 10%.
Or you may have studied 100%, and suddenly you fall sick, or suddenly the examination is cancelled. There are so many factors.
We have to do our duty. This is very important. Devotees also have to learn this. The instruction "you have a right to your work, but not to the results" is from the second chapter. That instruction is for karma, but for me, devotion and service are different.
In devotional service, you have a right to do your devotional service. Just like we have a right to fight and to have Sri Prasada as our spiritual master is there. You cannot stop us from our service to Sri Prabhupada, our direct spiritual master.
So, we are doing our duty and the result is in Krishna's hands.
