Answer
It is a fact that the material world offers countless allurements. They exist in many forms, from very gross sense pleasures to subtle attractions, and resisting them is certainly difficult.
However, the process of bhakti, or Krishna consciousness, is extraordinarily powerful.
The Srimad-Bhagavatam glorifies the potency of devotional service, and Srila Prabhupada repeatedly explained that anyone who sincerely practices Krishna consciousness can gradually overcome all material attractions and develop a higher spiritual taste.
As one's taste for Krishna consciousness increases, giving up sinful activities and lower forms of enjoyment becomes natural and effortless. This higher taste replaces the attraction for temporary material pleasures.
A practical example is Krishna prasadam.
If you make it a practice to eat only Krishna prasadam every day, your sense of taste will gradually change. Over time, you will naturally lose your attraction to food that has not been offered to Krishna.
You can verify this through your own experience. Simply try eating only Krishna prasadam for about three months. At the end of that period, observe how your taste has changed.
Without making any separate effort to give up ordinary food, you will find that your attraction has shifted naturally.
The only requirement is to honor Krishna prasadam every day with sincerity.
In the same way, by regularly chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, hearing Srimad-Bhagavatam, associating with devotees, and engaging in devotional service, one gradually develops a genuine higher taste for Krishna consciousness. As that higher taste awakens, material allurements lose their influence, and spiritual life becomes joyful and natural.
