Answer
Yes, certainly.
Regardless of the cause of a person's suffering or the nature of their difficulties, taking shelter of Krishna and chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra is beneficial under all circumstances.
There are no restrictions on who may chant the holy names or take shelter of Krishna. Everyone, regardless of their background or situation, is eligible.
In the Ninth Chapter of the Bhagavad-gita, Krishna reveals the most confidential knowledge. He explains that anyone can approach Him directly through bhakti-yoga, the path of devotional service.
Even those who have lived very sinful lives can take shelter of Krishna.
How do they begin?
Simply by vibrating the holy names:
Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare
By chanting the holy names, one takes shelter of Krishna, because Krishna is personally present in His holy name. His name and His person are nondifferent.
Therefore, chanting is itself a prayer to Krishna.
As a person continues chanting sincerely, their heart gradually becomes purified. Their mind becomes peaceful, and they begin to experience genuine relief from anxiety, suffering, and emotional distress.
They should be encouraged to chant at least one round (108 names) daily, and gradually increase their chanting according to their capacity.
Equally important is association with sincere devotees. The company of those who are seriously practicing Krishna consciousness provides encouragement, guidance, and spiritual strength.
Through the combined influence of chanting, devotional association, and Krishna's mercy, a person can gradually overcome even deep emotional pain and attain lasting peace.
