Answer
The goal is not to detach from the subtle body but to purify it.
Even with the gross body, detachment does not come by rejecting it. Rather, we see the body as an instrument for Krishna's service. We must relate to the body in one of two ways: either as an instrument for sense gratification or as an instrument for serving Krishna.
The same principle applies to the mind, intelligence, and false ego.
Engage your intelligence in Krishna's service. The more you study Bhagavad-gītā and other scriptures, the more your intelligence becomes purified.
Engage your mind in Krishna's service. The more you develop affection for Krishna and His mission, the more your mind becomes purified.
Gradually realize that real love exists only in one's eternal relationship with Krishna.
The so-called love experienced in the material world is temporary. It is like a toy that makes a squeaking sound when pressed—it gives the appearance of love but cannot satisfy the heart's deepest longing.
The soul is actually searching for eternal love and eternal intimacy, and that can only be found in Krishna.
One should honestly acknowledge:
"I long for love. I long for intimacy. I do not want Maya to exploit these genuine spiritual needs."
When we are hungry, it is easy to be deceived. Similarly, our longing for love and intimacy can easily be misdirected unless we understand that only Krishna can fully satisfy it.
The Lord, who resides within the heart as the Supersoul, is our closest and truest friend. He is the one with whom we should share our deepest concerns. Instead of carrying our burdens alone, we should speak to Him, cry before Him, and surrender our hearts to Him.
No one can offer better guidance or deeper intimacy than Krishna Himself.
Therefore, turn toward Krishna for everything, and through that process the mind, intelligence, and false ego gradually become purified.
