Answer
One should not independently try to dovetail such desires.
If you begin planning how to fulfill your own desires under the label of "dovetailing," you are simply creating another layer of material desire. What appears to be dovetailing may actually be an attempt to satisfy personal ambitions.
Krishna and the spiritual authorities will decide how your abilities and tendencies should be engaged. Your responsibility is not to manage your own desires but to sincerely engage in devotional service.
Since devotional service is practiced under the guidance of devotees, guru, and Vaiṣṇavas, proper direction will naturally come. Maya is extremely clever and can easily deceive us.
Do not make a list of all your desires and start planning how each one can be fulfilled in Krishna's service. That is not dovetailing—it is simply another way of trying to fulfill material desires.
Instead, honestly acknowledge your desires, feel humble about them, and pray to the Lord:
"I am foolish and do not know which desires are favorable and which are not. Please guide me."
Remember that not every desire can be dovetailed. Some desires simply have to be given up.
For example, if someone asks whether the desire to kill can be dovetailed, the answer is: yes—but only by praying to Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva to destroy the false egos within the heart, just as He destroyed Hiraṇyakaśipu.
