Answer
They are not the same.
The body and the mind undergo tapasya, while the soul experiences spiritual pleasure.
When you chant sincerely, your soul takes pleasure in Krishna's Holy Name, but your body and mind experience discipline and austerity because they naturally resist remaining fixed on chanting.
These are two different experiences occurring simultaneously.
The Vedas distinguish between the soul, the body, and the mind.
When the soul experiences pleasure, the body may also sometimes experience pleasure because it follows the soul.
However, when the body and mind undergo pain or austerity, it does not necessarily mean that the soul must also suffer.
You possess the free will to experience spiritual happiness even while your body and mind are undergoing difficulty.
That is one of the unique characteristics of devotional service.
The soul can rejoice in serving Krishna even when the body and mind are accepting austerity.
