Everything originates from your desire.
Ask yourself, "What is my fundamental desire?"
If material desires have not been given up, they will manifest in many different ways. There is little value in examining every external symptom because the root cause is the desire itself.
There are material desires and there are spiritual desires. Every situation in our life is Krishna's reciprocation according to our desires.
No living being can go beyond the arrangement of the Supreme Lord. Even as devotees, if we still possess material desires, Krishna allows us to experience the consequences of those desires.
Although we sincerely desire to become pure devotees, our old conditioned desires—especially the desire for personal enjoyment and control—continue to linger. Therefore we must constantly remain in association with the Holy Name so that these deeply rooted impressions stored within the subtle body can gradually be cleansed.
Material consciousness functions because of Krishna's arrangement according to our karma. Karma belongs to material nature, not to the spirit soul.
The spirit soul itself is never touched by karma. It is simply covered by material conditioning and influenced by it, much like mistaking a rope for a snake. The soul remains the knower, but its perception becomes distorted.
Therefore, the real solution is to constantly purify our desires.
Continually ask yourself:
"What is my desire?"
When your only desire becomes pleasing Srila Prabhupada and Krishna, material desires gradually disappear.
Krishna, as the Paramatma within the heart, reciprocates according to our desires.
If you desire spiritual realization, He will provide it.
If you sincerely pray,
"Please give me detachment from material life."
or
"Please free me from the bodily concept of life."
He responds.
In fact, if the desire is genuine, even asking becomes secondary because Krishna already knows the heart.
Krishna consciousness is a complete process. Instead of focusing only on external problems like, "Why am I becoming angry?" go to the root.
Find the underlying desire.
Usually there is some personal, self-centered, or mixed desire still remaining. We may want to serve Krishna, but our service is mixed with personal motives.
Purify the desire, and the external problems gradually disappear.
