Answer
No, this should never be considered materialistic. We should always pray to the Lord and seek His help. Ultimately, it is only the Supreme Lord who can help us become free from unwanted desires and fulfill the deepest spiritual aspirations of our heart.

Our daily prayer can be very simple and straightforward: "Please engage me in Your service."

Even after practicing devotional service sincerely, we may sometimes find that certain anarthas, unwanted habits, or long-standing conditioning persist. In such situations, it is appropriate to pray to the Lord and beg for His mercy and blessings.

The mood should be one of humility: "I have been trying to purify myself, but I can see that I am unable to do so by my own strength. Kindly help me."

Krishna is very eager to help anyone who approaches Him sincerely and prays for His assistance. When a devotee turns to Him for relief from material conditioning and obstacles in spiritual life, Krishna is especially pleased to extend His mercy and guidance.
