Śrīla Prabhupāda never minimized any bona fide process of devotional service.
He taught that all the limbs of devotional service are spiritually potent.
In the beginning, different devotees may be naturally attracted to different aspects of bhakti. As explained in the Nectar of Devotion, one person may be especially attracted to chanting, another to hearing, another to deity worship, and another to some other aspect of devotional service.
A devotee may begin from the point where genuine attraction exists.
However, this does not mean that such attraction should later be abandoned. Rather, the very aspect of devotional service that initially attracted a devotee often becomes a strong foundation for further spiritual advancement.
Therefore, if someone is especially attracted to deity worship, hearing, chanting, reading, or another bona fide process of bhakti, that attraction can be engaged and strengthened in devotional service.
The important point is that all these processes are meant to deepen one's relationship with Krishna, and all of them remain valuable throughout one's spiritual life.
